What’s happening in the Atlantic Region?
NL – Anyone interested in become C-NRPP Mitigation certified in Newfoundland and Labrador can access a grant of $800 towards the cost of the training. The funds will be paid out after the course is completed. This program is open until July 2022. Email Leah Hemphill if you are interested.
NS – Radon Detector Library Loan Program: Over 150 devices have been distributed amongst the Nova Scotia Public libraries for loan
- NS – Health Canada is looking for residents to participate in a radon survey. Residents must live in the Halifax Regional Municipality in housing built after the year 2000. The survey will help determine if current radon measures in the National Building Code are effective.
NL – Wabana, NL on Belle Island distributed free test kits as a part of the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge check out the 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge Community Report – Wabana.
NB – Moncton, NB: Hosted the Atlantic Radon Workshop presented by CARST with an Awareness Evening, handing out free test kits. Moncton was the first of the 100 Radon Test Kits communities. Find the report from Moncton’s 100 Radon Test Kit Challenge project here.

Organizational Radon Stakeholders in Atlantic Canada
The Newfoundland & Labrador Lung Association is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to achieving healthy breathing for the people of Newfoundland & Labrador through programs in Education, Research and Advocacy, sustained by the formalized activities of fundraising, volunteerism, and organizational development. The Atlantic Region Lung Associations provide education and awareness to Atlantic Canadians about radon and the health risks associated with long-term exposure to high concentrations. In addition, the Atlantic Lung Associations sell Health Canada approved long-term radon test kits, which includes laboratory analysis costs.
